Alex is affiliated with Wits Reproductive Health & HIV Institute (mHealth Fellowship), University of Johannesburg and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Alex is currently finishing his Master of Public Health at the University of Johannesburg, where he is focusing on mHealth interventions for non-communicable diseases (NCDs). While in South Africa, he has also been researching other mHealth interventions through a fellowship with Wits RHI.
Alex has completed his Bachelor of Science in Physiology from McGIll University in Montreal, Canada and has worked as a paramedic near Toronto, Canada. As a paramedic, Alex first noticed the strain that preventable NCDs can place on a healthcare system, and this prompted him to begin studying pre-hospital preventative healthcare. South Africa was chosen as a research destination as there is a large population who could benefit from the research, as well as strong mobile penetration to support mHealth interventions.
Dr. Sangiwe Moyo
Senior Research Associate
Qualification: PhD in Public Health, Master’s in Business Administration and BSc Honors in Nursing Science
Dr. Sangiwe Moyo has over 11 years of managing complex multi-million-dollar public health programmes. He is considered a social entrepreneur for the innovative projects that he has introduced to underserved communities in Southern Africa. Most recently he advised at a high-level pharmaceutical project for African Union agency New Partnership for Africa's Development. He is currently the Deputy Director for the UNITAID STAR HIV Self-Testing Initiative project where he is responsible for the project’s operations.
Prior to joining STAR and was the Chief Innovations Officer for Africa Health Placements responsible for donor relations with CDC and USAID, he also worked for Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute as a Project Manager on two projects aimed at increasing the uptake of sexual reproductive health services among adolescents, men and key populations.
Senior Research Associate

Dr. Nellie is a Social Scientist with specialization in Sociology of Health. She has experience working in various social contexts and fields within the discipline including working on issues related to HIV and AIDS, TB, gender, access to health services, barriers and enabling factors to health care and child malnutrition.
Dr. Nellie has an extensive experience in coordinating research activities in Malawi and South Africa. She has managed and/or evaluated UNFPA, IOM, CDC, FHI 360, EU and Concern World Wide funded projects among other entities.
She is presently involved in protocol design, data collection using a variety of methods, analysis, report writing, and dissemination of results to all stakeholders. Dr. Nellie is presently the Head Anthropologist at the Wits Health Consortium at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health
Arineda has a background in public health and was part of the "Health for All" project from Swiss Tropical Institute of Public Health and Ministry of Health in Albania. She also worked with Save the Children on "Community based services for children with disabilities" and "Child nutrition and access to health care services".
She is has also worked with the UAntwerpen team of the Tuberculosis Omics Research (TORCH), a collaboration of University of Antwerp and Stellenbosch University. She has an interest in research on non-communicable diseases prevention, treatment and management.
She is currently pursuing research in the area on NCDs with a particular focus on Africa. Arineda began her Master of Science in Epidemiology in 2017 as part of the Epidemiology and Social Medicine at University of Antwerp in Belgian

Jessica has been involved in coordinating research and evaluation activities. She has expertise in research design, enhancing monitoring and evaluation systems; and conducting evaluations (baseline, mid-term and end-term), among others. She has expertise in both qualitative (Atlas ti, Nvivo) and quantitative (SPSS, STATA) data analysis. She also conducts extensive literature researches for journal papers, systematic reviews, document analysis and technical reports.
Jessica is also part of the team of editors and reviews of academic articles, technical report and abstracts.

Dr. Oluseun Peter Nubi is a medical doctor, a consultant psychiatrist. He is a researcher and a lecturer at University of Lagos, Nigeria. His areas of interest is: community mental health, suicidology, addiction and organizational mental health and telepsychiatry. His operational philosophy is mental crisis prevention through: mental health advocacy, mental health promotion, medication adherence education and carrying out screening and evaluation at the community/primary care level.
Dr. Nubi has worked across various levels of healthcare system, both in public and private spheres. His sordid experience spans through a decade of working with the millennial age group and young adults, using various psychodynamic scopes of interventions, therapy tools, coaching skills and management strategies in line with international best practices.
Dr. Oluseun Peter Nubi invests heavily on his self-development, traveling to different parts of the world to learn more about international best practices on mental health care and management. He was a participant at the international global mental health summit, Kings College, United Kingdom and at the recent WPA Conference in Berlin, Germany. He is a member of professional bodies including: the Nigerian Medical Association, World Psychiatric Association and Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria and International Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA), USA.
Public Health Specialist
Qualifications: PhD in Public Health, Master of Business Administration, BSc Nutrition, Certificate in Advanced Health Management. PGD in Public Health Nutrition.
Dr. Tshuma has extensive experience in building partnerships with relevant stakeholders that enhance the organisation's profile and ensure its effectiveness and sustainability. He has been a principal investigator and co-investigator in various studies on HIV and TB, nutrition, mhealth, machine learning, maternal health, gender-based violence, non-communicable diseases, youth, adolescent health and other public health related topics. His research output currently stands at more than 50 publications comprising journal articles, abstracts, books and technical reports. Dr. Tshuma has extensive experience in the management cooperative agreements or contracts both as a sub recipient and direct recipient of USAID, IOM, PEPFAR, Global Fund, CDC, Irish Aid and South African government funding.
He is also a Reviewer and Adjunct Editor in peer-reviewed journals in the field on public health and social science. His collaborations with other academic institutions and colleagues extend to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Brazil, Myanmar, Jamaica, Ghana, India, Sweden, Dubai, USA, Lesotho, Swaziland, Nigeria and South America. He is a member of various local and international professional associations and bodies in the area of public health.
Dr. Tshuma provides technical capacity and oversight to civil society organization, small businesses and cooperatives in the areas of management, monitoring and evaluation, financial management, governance, fundraising and quality improvement. He is also involved in establishing and sustaining a professional relationship with government and donor agencies.
Strategic Information Officer
Thenjiwe coordinates institutional activities and programmes. She is responsible for ensuring that all tasks are undertaken timeously and she is responsible for coordinating support for community-based organization and small companies. This role involves assisting civil society organisations and private companies in the review and management donor cooperative agreement or contract, including professional and support staff supervision.
Her experience has been in providing technical oversight, planning and implementation of the Routine M&E Systems within and across programmes. She also leads the strategic planning and implementation of annual work plans, learning, monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate the impact.

He has over 15 years of experience within the public and private sectors and has worked with international development firms, nongovernmental organizations, and private companies in Africa. Mr. Smith’s broad and diverse experience spans managing financial systems, corporate structures, strategy, oversight, contracts/legal, facilities, mergers and acquisitions, and information technology. He has been involved in the design, developing, modification, and maintenance of project financial, contractual, and administrative procedures, as well as systems and tools to support effective and compliant implementation of activities in small businesses and nongovernmental organizations.
Mr Smith oversees the development, negotiation, and monitoring of subcontracts and contracts with partners and other collaborating organizations, including drafting of original subcontracts with major partners. He has extensive experience in overseeing implementation, financial and operational management grant awards. He oversees and review work plan budgeting, budget tracking, and financial reporting processes and systems. His roles also involve developing approaches to contain costs, improve systems, and streamline financial management.
Allison is a qualified Industrial Psychologist who has completed her Masters in Industrial Psychology at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and passed with 3 distinctions. She wrote her board exam with the HPCSA (Health Professional Council of South Africa) in 2014 which she has passed with 85%. Allison is an accredited Assessor and Moderator and therefore can facilitate accredited training.
Allison have been advising, consulting and guiding business managers (CEO, Managing Directors, General Managers and HR directors) for the past 12 years in talent management nationally and have worked with and been in a network with other talent managers across the globe. She has designed and implemented many talent management interventions to assist businesses with getting the best out of their staff and ensuring that the staff are engaged and effective.
Allison advises, consults and guides organisations on talent management initiatives (Employee engagement, talent acquisition, change management, succession planning, performance management, leadership development and graduate programs) as well as HR consulting. Dr. Sunday Adedini is a health demographer with more than 12 years teaching and research experience in universities both in Nigeria and South Africa. He has worked with many research organizations on short or long term basis. He has been involved in many research projects across sub-Saharan Africa, and has made spirited efforts and contributions towards addressing the region’s population and public health challenges through teaching, research, and community engagements.
Dr Adedini is a recipient of a number of academic laurels and fellowships, including Fogarty Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, CARTA PhD Fellowship, BIARI Fellowship, Wits University Postgraduate Merit Award, Exceptional Research Outputs Award of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Wits University, amongst others. He has previously served as expert resource person and research collaborator for the National Population Commission, Nigeria; UNFPA, South Africa; UNFPA, South Sudan; Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative; African Population and Health Research Centre, Kenya; International Organization for Migration, South Africa; etc. He is well published in many high-impact journals in the fields of population and public health. He currently leads a team of demographers at the Wits Health Consortium, and his on-going research works are in the areas of maternal and child health, reproductive health, and family demography.

Saheed Usman is an efficient and resourceful award-winning health professional, researcher and scholar with more than 10 years’ experience in medical science, laboratory medicine and public health intervention programs implementation especially on HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis prevention, diagnosis, care and treatment, health system strengthening programs for control of infectious and non-communicable diseases. He has over twenty-five publications in reputable local and international journals, oral and poster presentations at various clinical and laboratory symposia, conferences and congresses, with travel grants and scholarships from various international organizations.
Currently, Saheed is a PhD candidate in Chemical Pathology with focus on Chemical Pathology and Toxicology and a Technical Officer at APIN Public Health Initiatives, Abuja, Nigeria (a research, training and public health implementation organization). He is affiliated with the Department of Laboratory Services, APIN Public Health Initiatives and Department of Chemical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Nigeria. He is responsible for coordinating all research across the countries and ensures that research work translates to output in the form of journal articles, reports and conference presentation and media briefs.

Diemo Masuko specializes in sexual and reproductive health. She is skilled in ethnographic fieldwork, qualitative data analysis and report writing. Diemo's other research interests lie in gender, teenage pregnancy and identity construction.
She has a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) majoring in Psychology and Social Anthropology from the University of the Witwatersrand. She also holds a BA Honours degree in Psychology and a MA in Social Anthropology (with distinction) from the same institution.

Brian Ngosi is a motivational speaker and writer. His public sector career spans over 14 years with assignments in Namibia, Algeria, Nigeria, Malaysia and Pakistan. As a Strategic Management and Corporate Governance expert, Brian has been a lead consultant for Advantage Communications and is extensively involved in facilitating management training programs. As a research fellow Brian Ngosi has accumulated vast research experience in both public and private sector management.

Dr. Vhudzani Tshisevhe

Dr Tshisevhe is a medical doctor with specialization in pathology. His other area of expertise includes HIV medicine and tropical medicine. He has published in both local and international peer reviewed journals. He has also presented in and coordinated local and international conferences.
He is a consultant pathologist and lecture in some of the major universities in South Africa. Dr Tshisevhe is an avid investor with several years of experience.

Audrey Mwape Kalindi is a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Zambia in the Department of Population Studies. She has a B.A. in Demography and an M.A. in Population Studies from the University of Zambia, with a postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. She is a former University of Michigan African Presidential Scholar (2017). Audrey has done several research and evaluation activities in the areas of maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.
She has a proven working experience in quantitative & qualitative research, capacity development, training & consulting, monitoring & evaluation systems development and management, project management, the public service, development sector, private sector, international development sector & donor sector. She has worked in projects that are supported by University of Zambia, UNFPA, CDC UNICEF and Lund University among others. Her professional membership is in International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), Zambia Monitoring and Evaluation Association (ZAMEA), South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) and is also a Member of the Steering Group for Quality Improvement through Data Use.

Mopa has experience in coordinating research activities, review and writing manuscripts for publication in journals. He has experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research in Lesotho, with a dissertation focusing on the management of hypertension in Lesotho health care settings. She has a great interest in non-communicable diseases. She has an interest in continuous quality improvement in health service delivery at a facility and community level.
She has conducted a study to identify barriers faced in effective and efficient health care service centre. Mopa has extensive laboratory experience in cancer research for 2 years yielding proficiency in the key molecular biology techniques like western blot, MTT assay and flow cytometry.

Keila has experience coordinating field research, project/research design and implementation of research projects. She has actively participated in research grant writing leading to the award of the grants. Her current research area of interest is non-communicable diseases and related risk factors. She has been involved in projects related to rheumatic heart disease, NCD initiatives in Mozambique in advocacy, awareness and empowering patients in a low- income setting. She has also been involved in putting together the National Mozambican Report of Non-communicable diseases.
Keila is collaborating author in scientific papers and health professional handbooks in the area of rheumatic heart disease and hypertension. She provides editorial support to the Mozambican Health Journal (Revista Moçambicana de Ciencias de Saúde). Keila holds a Research Assistant position in the Mozambique Institute for Health Education and Research.

Mussagy Mahomed is a health systems researcher, has more than 10 years of experience in the Epidemiological Surveillance of HIV and Syphilis since the elaboration and implementation of basic Sentinel and Population surveys. He is a geographer (Health Geographic Information Systems) - Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Geography, and Master in Public Health - Faculty of Medicine - Eduardo Mondlane University - Maputo, Mozambique, constantly updated in the field of Information Technology (use of open source software), with fast learning ability and constant search for new skills.
